About Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a public research university located in Singapore. Established in 1991, NTU operates a main campus spanning 200 hectares, known as the Yunnan Garden Campus, in the western part of Singapore. A smaller campus, Novena Campus, houses the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. NTU is a comprehensive university offering a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines. The university is structured into several colleges, schools, and institutes, each focusing on specific fields of study and research. The College of Engineering is a prominent component of NTU, comprising multiple schools. The School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering offers programs in chemical engineering, bioengineering, and pharmaceutical engineering. The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering provides courses in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and maritime studies. The School of Computer Science and Engineering focuses on computer science, computer engineering, and data science and artificial intelligence. Electrical and electronic engineering is covered by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The School of Materials Science and Engineering offers programs in materials science and engineering. Mechanical and aerospace engineering are housed within the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. These engineering schools collectively offer Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degrees, Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) by research, Master of Science (M.Sc.) by coursework, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. The College of Business, known as the Nanyang Business School (NBS), offers undergraduate Bachelor of Business (BBus) programs with specializations in areas such as accountancy, banking and finance, business analytics, human resource consulting, marketing, and operations management. At the postgraduate level, NBS offers Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), Master of Science (M.Sc.) in various business disciplines, and Ph.D. programs. The College of Science comprises the School of Biological Sciences and the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. The School of Biological Sciences offers programs in biological sciences, biomedical sciences, and food science and technology. The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences provides courses in chemistry and biological chemistry, physics, and mathematical sciences. These schools offer Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degrees, M.Sc. degrees, and Ph.D. programs. The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences is home to the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, the School of Art, Design and Media, and the School of Social Sciences. The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information offers Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) programs with specializations in areas like advertising, broadcast and cinema studies, journalism, public relations, and information analytics. It also offers Master of Mass Communication (MMC) and Ph.D. programs. The School of Art, Design and Media offers Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in areas such as animation, digital filmmaking, game design, interaction design, photography, and product design. It also offers Master of Arts (MA) and Ph.D. programs. The School of Social Sciences provides Bachelor of Arts (BA) programs in economics, psychology, and public policy and global affairs. It also offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs. The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is a joint medical school established by NTU and Imperial College London. It offers a five-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. The curriculum integrates basic medical sciences with clinical training, utilizing team-based learning and early patient exposure. LKCMedicine is located at the Novena Campus, adjacent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, a major teaching hospital. Beyond these colleges and schools, NTU also hosts several autonomous institutes and centers. The National Institute of Education (NIE) is Singapore's national teacher education institute. It prepares teachers for Singapore's public schools and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in education, including Bachelor of Arts (Education), Bachelor of Science (Education), Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Master of Arts (Education), Master of Science (Education), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in education. NIE also conducts educational research and provides professional development for educators. The S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) is an autonomous graduate school within NTU, focusing on international relations, strategic studies, and political science. RSIS offers Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs in International Relations, Asian Studies, Strategic Studies, and International Political Economy, as well as Ph.D. programs. It also conducts policy-relevant research and hosts various research centers, including the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (IDSS) and the Centre of Excellence for National Security (CENS). The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is an autonomous research institute at NTU, dedicated to studying earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, and climate change in Southeast Asia. EOS conducts interdisciplinary research in earth sciences, contributing to hazard mitigation and understanding regional geological processes. The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a national research centre hosted at NTU, focusing on microbial biofilm communities and their role in natural and engineered systems. SCELSE integrates engineering and life sciences to address challenges related to water quality, public health, and environmental sustainability. NTU is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Singapore. Its academic strengths include engineering, particularly in areas like materials science, electrical and electronic engineering, and computer science. The university has also developed strengths in interdisciplinary research, evidenced by initiatives such as the Earth Observatory of Singapore and the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering.
