About Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering

Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME) is a constituent school of SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). Located in Vile Parle, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, the institution operates under the academic umbrella of NMIMS, which is a Deemed-to-be-University. Established in 2006, the school was founded to address the industry demand for professionals who possess both technical engineering skills and management expertise. It functions as a specialized wing within the NMIMS ecosystem, focusing on the intersection of technology and business administration.

The academic structure at MPSTME is organized into various departments, including Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Data Science. The school offers undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech, MCA, MBA-Tech), and doctoral programs. The MBA-Tech program is a primary offering of the institution, designed as a dual-degree course that integrates engineering and management curricula over a five-year period. This structure aims to provide students with a technical foundation alongside business management training, preparing them for roles in project management, systems analysis, and technical consulting.

MPSTME is situated within the NMIMS campus infrastructure in Mumbai, with additional campuses in Shirpur, Navi Mumbai, and Indore. The facilities include laboratory spaces equipped for research in areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and materials science. The campus provides access to centralized library resources, digital databases, and computing centers. These facilities are intended to support the technical curriculum and facilitate hands-on learning experiences for students enrolled in both engineering and technology management streams.

The institution operates under the accreditations held by NMIMS. NMIMS has been granted Category I autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and holds an A+ grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Several of the engineering programs offered at MPSTME have received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), which evaluates the quality of technical education based on specific criteria including curriculum, faculty, and infrastructure. These accreditations signify that the programs meet the standards set by national regulatory bodies for engineering and management education in India.

The academic approach at MPSTME emphasizes the integration of technical knowledge with business management principles. This is achieved through a curriculum that incorporates core engineering subjects alongside modules in economics, finance, marketing, and operations management. The faculty consists of individuals with backgrounds in both academic research and industry practice. Research activities at the school are centered around applied sciences, information systems, and management technology, often involving collaborations with industry partners to address technical challenges.

Students at MPSTME participate in a structured placement process facilitated by the central placement cell of NMIMS. This process connects students with organizations across sectors such as information technology, consulting, manufacturing, and financial services. The school maintains industry-academia partnerships to facilitate internships, guest lectures, and collaborative projects. These engagements are designed to provide students with exposure to industry practices and to help bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and practical application in professional environments.

As part of the NMIMS network, MPSTME follows the administrative and academic policies established by the university. The institution maintains a system of continuous internal assessment, which includes periodic examinations, project work, and laboratory evaluations. The academic calendar is structured to accommodate the requirements of both the technical and management components of the curriculum. The school also provides opportunities for international collaboration through student exchange programs and joint research initiatives with universities outside of India, aimed at broadening the academic scope for its student body.

The growth of MPSTME is aligned with the broader development of technical education in India, specifically in the context of private, deemed-to-be-university models. By focusing on the convergence of engineering and management, the institution provides a specialized educational path distinct from traditional four-year engineering programs. The school’s reliance on the established framework of NMIMS allows it to leverage existing resources, including faculty expertise, administrative support, and an established network of corporate recruiters, while maintaining a specific focus on technology-driven management education.
